Q&A: Is it possible to get a yeast infection 2 days into antibiotics?
Question by It’s just me: Is it possible to get a yeast infection 2 days into antibiotics?
I have been taking keflex for a few spider bites and I’m supposed to take 1, 4x a day for 7 days. I think I’m getting a yeast infection but it’s only been 2 full days into the pills. Thanks.

The problem with antibiotics is that they work against all bacteria in your body and do not discriminate against the good or bad kind, so I think it is quite possible you have a yeast infection but please remember that yeast infection symptoms can be similar to other unrelated conditions, your doctor will diagnose for sure.
Good bacteria actually help to keep yeast levels in control, a sort of inner body balancing act if you like.
When the good bacteria are killed off by antibiotics then yeast wins the battle and starts the infection by multiplying out of control.
You need to try to replace the good bacteria, to restore the balance and as mentioned a good way to do this is to eat yoghurt. But you need to eat the variety with the live cultures, commonly marketed as pro biotic.
It is preferable to eat the natural variety at first, if you like this, for best results, at least until you are off the antibiotics.
You will also find that pro biotic products are not just limited to yoghurts I am seeing milk shakes and other items appearing at the stores.
