Question by Emma C: How to tell vaginal discharge from a yeast infection?
I have sometimes white and sometimes yellow but it doesn’t smell bad or like anything at all. I don’t know if it is a yeast infection or not but I am too embarrassed to tell my mom. I have had it for a while and I think it might be my period coming. Please help me!!! I am so worried

Discharge for a yeast infection is usually clumpy like cottage cheese. Some women also will notice itching and redness.

Because you have had it for a while and aren’t noticing any other symptoms it does sound like your period could be coming soon.

I know you are embarrassed to tell your mom about this but she really needs to know about this so that she can help you keep an eye on the situation.

Q&A: Can eating sugar produce a smell from a yeast infection?

Question by NYC123: Can eating sugar produce a smell from a yeast infection?
I have a bad yeast infection, which has caused a kind of sour smell. I know that sugar feeds yeast infections and I have been trying to stay away from it, but I have had sugar and carbs while treating it. By eating these things, could the smell actually become worse//stronger? And when the yeast infection clears there shouldnt be a smell when I eat sugar right?

Best answer:

Answer by EROS7776
It would be best to try to avoid sugar and carbohydrates in general while having a yeast infection because it can make it harder to cure. It isn’t just sugar, but flour, pasta, rice, white bread, any high glycemic carbohydrate that feeds yeast. The smell is worse because the infection is worse. Once the yeast infection is completely gone, it should not bother you to eat sugar.

good luck..

I’m experiencing pain while urinating. How can I tell if it is from a yeast infection or a bladder infection?

Question by Lindsey C: I’m experiencing pain while urinating. How can I tell if it is from a yeast infection or a bladder infection?
So, I’m experiencing pain (burning) while urinating and some itching. How can I tell if it’s a yeast infection or a bladder infection? I’m not really sure how to tell the difference as the symptoms are similar. I’ve had both and I’ve been to the doctor (so please don’t just say, go see a doc) previously, but I’m still unsure how to determine which one it is.
Thanks.
ETA: I’m currently on my period, so it’s a little difficult to tell if I have any discharge (which is also why I was thinking it was a yeast infection-because I use pads as I get horrible cramps when I use tampons). Thanks for all your help!

If you have a yeast infection, you will notice a lumpy, yellowish discharge with a fishy odor. Yeast infections are most common either right before or just after your period due to the pH imbalance around your vaginal area.

A UTI (urinary tract infection) causes burning while urinating, and you feel the urge to urinate more frequently, but only actually pee a small amount.

What are some of the most powerful ways to eliminate Candida from the body?

Question by Look Its Jay: What are some of the most powerful ways to eliminate Candida from the body?
I have 2 persistent skin infections so it might be best for me to tackle the problem at its core, rather than superficially.

You can control candida by diet, as its a yeast infection. Get a proper diagnosis first as it may be something else such as eczema which requires different treatment.

How do you stop yeast infections from recurring?

Question by …Ms Independent…: How do you stop yeast infections from recurring?
I had a yeast infection in January. I went to the doctor because I wanted to take the pill instead of the cream which requires a prescription. Eventually it went away.

After awhile I notice right before my period I would itch only at the top of my vagina on the outer lip. I notice it was soar and saw what looked like little paper cuts. I went to the doctor and he said its normal for some women to get it right before their period.

I dont think this is normal and I wanna know if any women out there has had this problem and how did she handle it.

Hi – Well, your Dr is right, in a way. It is fairly common to have an occurrence of yeast infection before your period. You are going through hormonal changes and body changes that shift the flora of the vagina. A few things might help. No deodorant vaginal sprays, douches or kotex/tampons. Wear cotton underwear, Don’t wear a pad or shield all the time – it acts like a diaper holding moisture against your body. Use mild soaps that are not highly perfumed in the genital area. Don’t wear tight jeans all the time as that doesn’t allow air circulation. Sleep without underwear when you aren’t on your period. Try probiotics – or at least yogurt to help balance out your system – try to keep sugar under control in those days before your period.
The other thing you might want to be sure of is that it is yeast. There are other things that come and go and itch that should be ruled out. Good luck

Q&A: What harm can come from a yeast infection?

Question by bakedtatah: What harm can come from a yeast infection?
I’ve had a yeast infection for almost a month, and i’ve tried several things to get rid of it. But nothing.
Is it bad to leave it untreated? Its not itchy and it doesn’t hurt.. Its just the discharge and cotton cheese look to it. (sorry tmi)
Any answers are very much appreciated

Leaving it would cause quite a lot of discomfort. If you have tried using anti-yeast preparations but they have not worked then there is a chance that it is not thrush that you have. You could have another infection. The best thing would be for you to see your Doctor. He will take swabs and then provide treatment accordingly.

Most yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans. However, 1 in 10 bouts of thrush are caused by other strains of Candida such as Candida glabrata. This type of thrush may not respond to the usual anti-thrush medicines. If this is the case, your Doctor can give you appropriate treatment.

Can a yeast infection prevent you from getting pregnant?

Question by : Can a yeast infection prevent you from getting pregnant?
I was wondering if a woman has a yeast infection, can it prevent her from getting pregnant? If it isn’t treated, can it cause permant damage and cause infertility?

Answer by baby_boo1409
Yes, it can definitely affect your chances of getting pregnant. Make sure you go to the Doctors to get rid of it. If you do get pregnant with the infection, there is a HUGE risk of having a miscarriage.
I know because it has happened to me before. The medicine for infections wont allow you to get pregnant but as soon as your off of it, you can try to get pregnant again.

Good Luck!
