Can i mix monistat 3 with Plain yogurt for my yeast infection?

Question by Alex Edmondson: Can i mix monistat 3 with Plain yogurt for my yeast infection?
I have a yeast infection and it’s almost gone but i was wondering if it would be more effective to mix yogurt and the monistat suppository. I have also been taking 1000 mg of Oderless Garlic and have eaten some yogurt. I have been watching what i eat and have been drinking lots of water.
It’s not to eat -_- it’s to put up there! Yogurt is okay to use inside your vagina for yeast infections and so is monistat so my question was can i mix them, NOT TO EAT THEM.

Yes you absolutely can.

Here is what you should do: use the medication at night, apply yogurt down there for a couple hours sometime during the day. I wouldn’t put them both at the same time (I don’t know why but my MIL is a nurse and said not to)~ do it separately.

Be sure the yogurt is Plain and not flavored.
Also, It would also help you to eat some of the yogurt and even take acidophilus which has the same stuff yogurt does. (if you are on antibiotics and that is why you got the yeast infection then wait to take the acidophilus until you are done with the antibiotics, taking them together will lessen the effects of antibiotics.)

How long after starting an antibiotic does a yeast infection occur?

Question by Paintmyselfgreen: How long after starting an antibiotic does a yeast infection occur?
I just started an antibiotic on Saturday afternoon, and I began experiencing symptoms of a yeast infection on Sunday. I am curious as to if symptoms would appear this quickly?

Answer by Beery

It’s definitely possible. Yeast is always present, but the natural bacteria on the genitals normally keep it controlled. As soon as the antibiotic entered your system it started to kill bacteria and the yeast would have begun to get entrenched and ready to make a serious an assault on your body. If your diet at the time was high in sugars, the yeast would be well fed and able to start growing at a good rate.

A good way to keep yeast at bay during antibiotic use is to cut out all sugars. I don’t know why doctors don’t advise patients of this. Perhaps because they are all about pills and procedures and not thinking about unintended consequences of treatment and how diet can affect their prescriptions.

I am on my last day of treatment and I still have a yeast infection?

Question by Jessica D: I am on my last day of treatment and I still have a yeast infection?
I have been using the off brand Monistat 7 and tonight is my last dose but I still have a yeast infection. Can someone please tell me what the most effective way of treating a yeast infection is and how to prevent them? I am open to home remedies as well. Also, what causes yeast infections. I know antibiotics can because I get one every time I am on antibiotics but what else causes them?

Best answer:

Answer by Lisa

As you may already know, candida, the bacteria that causes yeast infections lives in the vagina. There is always a small amount of it but because the vagina itself is acidic with a Ph between 3-4 it is controlled, and doesnt bother at all. Ok, so you know about antibiotics, but any other factor (like soap, ovulation, condoms or any type of birth control ) that changes your vaginas Ph and makes it less acid is giving the candida a environment that is perfect for it to grow.

Now about the remedy, give the monistat some time to work, but I recommend you to take Some Apple cider vinegar dilute it in some fresh water and sit on that mixture, in a tub or in a bucket, allowing your legs to be just a little open. Believe me THIS WORKS.
Do it at often as you can :)
Hope I helped!

Hi, I’m only 14 years old, and I think I might have the yeast infection in my vagina..I do NOT want to go to the doctor or tell anyone about it. I just want it to go away. Does anyone know how to get rid of it without drugs, creams, or powders or anything?! PLEASE HELP!

Monistat- buy this at the store.

Wear cotton underwear and eat yogurt.

It may be beneficial to see a doctor if you get another yeast infection; they can prescribe an oral tablet that rids the infection.

Q&A: Can you get your period while treating a yeast infection?

Question by Sgath: Can you get your period while treating a yeast infection?
I appeared to have gotten a yeast infection about a week or so, i left it for about 3 days before i went and got medication. On the second of three days of treatment I noticed there was blood in my discharge. Yesterday being the third day of treatment there was only a little bit of blood and today there is still blood. Is this normal?

Best answer:

Answer by Angelkat
Yes. There is no reason your body would skip your period on account of a yeast infection. Menses sensation can occur for things like super low body weight or high stress levels, but a yeast infection would not be considered anything that stressful.

Q&A: What harm can come from a yeast infection?

Question by bakedtatah: What harm can come from a yeast infection?
I’ve had a yeast infection for almost a month, and i’ve tried several things to get rid of it. But nothing.
Is it bad to leave it untreated? Its not itchy and it doesn’t hurt.. Its just the discharge and cotton cheese look to it. (sorry tmi)
Any answers are very much appreciated

Answer by Rhianna_Returns
Leaving it would cause quite a lot of discomfort. If you have tried using anti-yeast preparations but they have not worked then there is a chance that it is not thrush that you have. You could have another infection. The best thing would be for you to see your Doctor. He will take swabs and then provide treatment accordingly.

Most yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans. However, 1 in 10 bouts of thrush are caused by other strains of Candida such as Candida glabrata. This type of thrush may not respond to the usual anti-thrush medicines. If this is the case, your Doctor can give you appropriate treatment.

Q&A: How does having a yeast infection affect my partner?

Question by Mia Anne *6.6.09*: How does having a yeast infection affect my partner?
If I have a yeast infection/ am getting over a yeast infection, does that affect my partner? Can the guy catch anything from me?

Best answer:

Answer by Rukh

It’s very rare for him to catch something just by going down on you, unless he’s down there for hours. He must not do it often or he would have told you it was getting funky and you could have been checked out sooner.

During intercourse its possible for the yeast to enter through his urethra. The chances of spreading the infection to the partner depends on the severity of the infection and the frequency of unprotected sex.

It can cause the symptom of “Burning during urination” which can be mistaken for a UTI (Urinary Track Infection) or STD until he can visit a doctor and have a simple urinalysis test to identify the culture growth.

If you have a yeast infection (or are still recovering from one) you need to tell your partner(s) so that (if they start feeling symptoms) they can get checked out and have some idea what to expect. If you don’t tell him he may go to the doctor’s assuming he has a normal UTI, and the doc is lazy (or your partner insist “no need for test”) and just provides antibiotics without testing, the problem will just get worse. Normal antibiotics are not designed to affect yeast, they requier a different treatment than UTIs.

He may just jump to the conclusion that his burning symptom is an STD and assume you’ve been cheating on him. He’ll be more likely to assume an STD if he already took antibiotics for a UTI and they didn’t work because (like above) he didn’t have the urinalysis done.

You need to tell your partner(s) every time you get (or think your getting) a yeast infection so that they know what’s really going on and that you don’t create an atmosphere of mistrust in the relationship. Mature guys will understand and know that yeast infections can manifest under a variety of conditions (she’s taking antibiotics, using tampons, has hormone/biochemical changes, etc.) and are a common (and usually harmless) occurance for women.

Why does the body make white discharge when you get a yeast infection?

Question by : Why does the body make white discharge when you get a yeast infection?
I just recently got a yeast infection, and I realized that many websites and how most doctors diagnose if you have a yeast infection is if the woman has thick cottage cheese like discharge. But i’m wondering is why the body makes this type of discharge when you have a yeast infection? and why does it smell like fish, and or bad typically when you have one.

Best answer:

Answer by Q
The body doesn’t make the discharge–the “discharge” is actually the yeast, which is an independent fungus that lives in your vagina. It’s always there, but when it grows to amounts larger than normal, they call it a yeast infection. Because it’s grown in large enough numbers, it becomes visible as the white cottage cheese-like substance.

is Vaginitis the same as a yeast infection?

Question by WhipperSnapper: is Vaginitis the same as a yeast infection?
I’m doing a report or candida albicans which causes yeast diseases and symptoms (i.e yeast infections) so I was wondering if vaginitis is the same as yeast infections. Can you let me know?

Best answer:

Answer by Jay-Jay
No, they’re not the same.

A yeast infection isn’t a disease it’s an infection caused when the natural yeast within the body overgrow, where as vaginitis is a more general irritation of the vulva – this can be caused by a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis or general irritation from contact with chemicals such as soaps.

What is the best treatment for a yeast infection?

Question by nolegirl09: What is the best treatment for a yeast infection?
I think i have a yeast infection, because i feel discomfort and it burns when i go to the bathroom? Its also sore. Do you have any advice on how to treat this?

thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Meadows-Phillips is a mouthful
Go to the doctor if this is your first yeast infection.

For me, Monistat and Diflucan both didn’t work. I had to have a prescription strength yeast infection cream. I used it for seven days and it worked great. Diflucan works great for some people, but it didn’t make a difference at all to me.

ETA: If you do use Monistat, make sure you get the 7 day and not the 1 or 3. The 7 day is more effective. The 3 and 1 day treatments are concentrated and can really burn your skin.
